.:.  iTunes: Audio Configuration Problems?
If your one of many that can not run iTunes because of an error of 'Audio configuration problems', the solution to the problem more than likely does not have to do with your audio drivers. Try running your Quick Time Player - most likely the last update didn't finish its installation. ;)
.:.  Vista Driver: DELL Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD
DELL has finally released Creative Labs Integrated Sound Blaster Audigy ADVANCED HD drivers for Vista users.

Before installing this application be sure that Sigmatel drivers are installed first. The application will require an activation key if none is found - can also be found on an XP version of the software that came with your DELL.

.:.  Using NOD32
Lifting the hood on NOD32 you will find an impressively small yet aggressively diverse antivirus program. The program as so many others uses several scanning and monitoring tactics to identify potential threats. Its sleek style yields a quick interpretative design. As you can tell I've been very impressed with the application and prefer its qualities over all others on the market today.

For those of you that have encountered problems with NOD32 and Outlook, I have found that the problem to stem from NOD32's communication to the Internet. Each of the instances I've encountered, running WinSockFix solves the problem.

Overall I highly recommend checking out NOD32. For more information check out Eset.
.:.  Time for Spring Cleaning
If you have not done so lately you should consider dusting those hidden dust bunnies and cookie crumbs as they tend to collect in those cracks and crevasses. More often than not, when drinking and eating around your computer reminisce of such tends to find new homes among keyboards, mice, monitors, speakers, and yes the computer itself. Dust bunnies, although not specifically containing food, tend to huddle together within groups in corners around and within the computer. Keeping your system clean makes for healthier and happier computing environment.

A few helpful hints on cleaning: For most computer components I suggest using canned air. Do not use anything electrical to clean such as vacuums, including Dust Busters. When using canned air, I suggest doing so outside. For those inspiring to use liquids - be careful to what you use and where you use it. Use small amounts of non-abrasive cleaners specific to what you’re cleaning. For monitors use monitor wipes - do not use Windex!
.:.  Vista Duck Taped
Problems continue to pour in, user's upgrading to Microsoft's Vista are quickly finding out that they jumped the gun just a tad bid early. Third party vendors have been scrambling to appease uprooted problems – many solutions have been duck taped.

For those Sonic users that have been annoyed with the endless pop-ups notating incompatible drivers – you have been blessed with a solutions! DELL has issued a patch that kind'a works. Personally I ripped all the Roxio and Sonic software out along with one of the Windows updates. If you need the patch, you can link to it from here.

Oh and let's not forget those that have been graciously plagued with all their EXE files being associated to something else. You got it, it even got me. Imagine going to open up Word or Notepad and Adobe Acrobat Reader opening up. What a fun mess that was. The trick to the solution had to remove and add entries to the Registry regarding how to handle EXE files again – tip for those feeling courageous (use Safe Mode Command Line).

And lastly Creative Audigy sound users, Vista compatible drivers are coming soon. ;)

I'm curious as to how many new Vista users feel that they made the absolute right choice to upgrade? Many whom I've spoke with found that they were forced to purchase upgraded software to work on Vista.
.:.  Jumping into Vista
Over the past week I have had numerous requests and questions regarding the new Visita. Of these, people are asking if they should upgrade from XP. Short answer, only if you feel adventureous... but before running of and purchasing Microsoft Vista, check to see if your computer is complient. You can check by downloading and installing the Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor here. Important note, as Microsoft will also tell you: Be sure all your devices are plugged in before running this compliency check. Good Luck!

In short, most people will be able to upgrade just fine if your computer is fairly new. However, if you want to get the full blown experience of Vista (depending on the version) the requirements tend to double. You can view Vista requirements here.

Now that you know you can install Vista, what version is best for you? That's right, Microsoft Vista comes in 5 flavors, however 4 are realistically available to most. Here is my simplified breakdown of the possible choices
- If Internet and e-mail is what you do, then Vista Home Basic is for you.
- If you want all the bells, whistles, and horns Vista Ultimate is the top choice.
- For those in between, most likely Vista Home Premium is the answer.
- And finally if your doing business and security is of essense, then its Vista Business.

Be sure to visit Microsoft for more information on Windows Vista.
.:.  Microsoft Vista Coming Soon
A lot going on this year end with talk of Microsoft Windows Vista releasing. As many of you know Microsoft is finally releasing their next generation of Windows January 2007. Vista has taken many negative hits over the course of its development from both the media and beta testers. As with any new release, I recommend holding off from upgrading for the first 6 to 12 months - although Microsoft is pushing everyone to upgrade as soon as possible. Generally during this initial period, new bugs and security patches are recognized and resolved quickly.
