The simple answer is money. These emails actually generate enough income to be very profitable. The marketing aspects alone generate increased traffic to websites and exposure to products and/or services. With tens of millions of these emails sent daily only a small percentage of responses are needed for success.
As long as there is email there will always be spam. Spam is the golden egg for spammers - they will do anything to keep it and avoid us from stopping it. |

The good news is spam can be controlled. The bad news is that there will always be a chance that legitimate emails are caught in the crossfire, and treated like spam. Spam can be controlled by searching for keywords and phrases as well as who and where the emails coming from. There are lists of known spammer websites and domains, referred to as black lists, that are used to help identify incoming email as spam. The downside is that spammers change their tactics constantly to avoid being caught - changing websites, sending mail from legitimate companies, or taking someone else?s identity are to name but a few. |
